Cisco Certification Program

Cisco Career Certifications Today's organizations, relying on the Internet and complex internal networks, need skilled professionals to keep them working smoothly and expanding seamlessly. By offering rigorous training in the latest information technologies, certifying technical proficiency, and providing resources for continuing education, the Cisco Career Certfications program serves networking professionals and the organizations that employ them.

Cisco Career Certifications program is an industry recognized, multilevel program that trains and certifies professionals to design, install, and operate Cisco networks. Cisco provides three levels of certification for IT professionals with several different tracks to meet individual needs.

The First Step

In general, Cisco Career Certifications begins with associate-level certifications, CCDA and CCNA that show expertise with networking foundations. Think of this level as the apprentice, or foundation, level of networking certifications.

Certifications Descriptions
CCNA The CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) indicates a foundation in and apprentice knowledge of networking. CCNA certified professionals can install, configure, and operate LAN, WAN, and dial access services for small networks (100 nodes or fewer), including but not limited to use of these protocols: IP, IGRP, Serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access Lists.
CCDA The CCDA (Cisco Certified Design Associate) indicates a foundation or apprentice knowledge of network design for the Cisco Internetwork Infrastructure. CCDA certified professionals can design routed and switched network infrastructures involving LAN, WAN, and dial access services for businesses and organizations.

The Second Step

In general, Cisco Career Certifications is professional-level certifications such as CCNP, CCSP, CCDP, and CCIP each falling within a different certification path (or track) for meeting varying career needs. Think of this level as the advanced, or journeyman, level of certification that shows expertise with networking foundations.

Certifications Descriptions
CCNP The CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) indicates advanced or journeyman knowledge of networks. With a CCNP, a network professional can install, configure, and troubleshoot local and wide area networks for enterprise organizations with networks from 100 to more than 500 nodes. The content emphasizes topics such as security, converged networks, quality of service (QoS), virtual private networks (VPN) and broadband technologies.
CCDP The CCDP (Cisco Certified Design Professional) indicates advanced or journeyman knowledge of network design. With a CCDP, a network professional can design routed and switched networks involving LAN, WAN, and dial access services, applying modular design practices and making sure the whole solution responds optimally to the business and technical needs and is designed to be highly available.
CCIP The CCIP (Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional) provides individuals working in service provider organizations with competencies in infrastructure IP networking solutions. CCIP professionals have detailed understanding of networking technologies in the service provider arena including IP routing, IP QoS, BGP, and MPLS.
CCSP The CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional) indicates advanced knowledge of securing Cisco networks. With a CCSP, a network professional can secure and manage network infrastructures to protect productivity and reduce costs. The content emphasizes topics such as perimeter security, virtual private networks, intrusion protection as well as how to combine these technologies in a single, integrated network security solution.
CCVP The CCVP (Cisco Certified Voice Professional) recognizes the increased importance placed on IT professionals of today who are responsible for integrating voice technology into underlying network architectures. Individuals who earn a CCVP certification can help create a telephony solution that is transparent, scalable, and manageable. Earning a CCVP certification validates a robust set of skills in implementing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting a converged IP network. The certification content focuses on Cisco Systems CallManager, quality of service (QoS), gateways, gatekeepers, IP phones, voice applications, and utilities on Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst switches.

The Final Step

Representing the highest level of achievement is the CCIE certification.

Certifications Descriptions
CCIE CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) is the most respected high-level certification, recognized worldwide as the doctorate" of networking. For over ten years, CCIE certification has identified internetworking professionals with the highest level of expertise, those capable of tackling the most challenging assignments in their field. CCIE certification is attained in technical specialties referred to as tracks.
  • Routing and Switching
  • Security
  • Service Provider
  • Voice
  • Storage networking
